Death of the Trabant - Inside The Historic Sachsenring Autowerke
A worker stands by one of the giant pre-war steel presses in the historic Sachsenring Autowerke factory. Once famous for producing the Auto Union V-16 Grand Prix raceing cars in the early 30's the factory was reduced to producing the Trabant during Soviet times in 1989 when this picture was taken. After German re-unification the historic factory was torn down and replaced by a modern VW plant.
